Dockworkers at 36 ports across the eastern U.S. are on strike for the first time in decades.

The strike is over wages and automation.

The work stoppage could lead to supply chain disruptions, causing shortages and higher prices if it continues for more than a few weeks.

The strike began early Tuesday, October 1, 2024.

Ports affected by the strike range from Maine to Texas.
