The International Olympic Committee (IOC) threatened to reject Salt Lake City's bid to host the 2034 Winter Games if U.S. criticism of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) persists.

The U.S. Congress and the Department of Justice have opened probes into WADA's handling of a Chinese doping scandal involving 23 swimmers.

WADA kept the test results of the 23 Chinese swimmers, who tested positive for banned substances, secret until revealed by journalists.

The IOC demanded that Utah officials and the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee sign a contract affirming respect for WADA's authority.

American athletes and officials, including USADA's Travis Tygart, have criticized WADA's procedures and called for continued investigations.
