Traces of H5N1 bird flu have been found in batches of raw milk sold at retail stores across California.

The virus was detected in raw milk from Fresno-based brand Raw Farm, the largest producer of raw milk in California.

No human infections have been linked to the product, but 27 people, mainly dairy workers, have tested positive for H5N1 in California.

US health agencies have warned of the dangers of consuming raw milk due to health risks, including infections like salmonella and E. coli.

At least 202 disease outbreaks in the US have been linked to drinking raw milk since 1998, resulting in 2,645 illnesses, 228 hospitalizations, and three deaths.
