A 24-year-old man named Daniel Schmidt was arrested in Orland Park, Illinois, for allegedly causing a disturbance in a voting line and punching an election judge.
The incident occurred at the Orland Park Township Office on a Sunday at approximately 11 a.m.
Schmidt allegedly refused to wait in line, attempted to push past an election judge, and punched the judge in the face.
Several members of the public restrained Schmidt until police arrived, and he was charged with multiple counts of aggravated battery and resisting arrest.
Schmidt was held overnight and transported to Bridgeview Courthouse for a detention hearing, with the investigation ongoing.
