New York City Mayor Eric Adams has been indicted on criminal charges in federal court in Manhattan.
The FBI raided his Gracie Mansion residence and seized his phone as part of the case.
The 57-page indictment accuses Adams of five criminal counts related to contributions to his 2021 mayoral campaign and other conduct dating back to 2014.
If Adams resigns before his first term ends, he will be succeeded by New York City Public Advocate Jumaane Williams as acting mayor.
Multiple federal investigations are ongoing into Adams and people affiliated with him and his administration.
